How to Build a Site

What is a site?

A website is information (content) which is hosted (placed) on the server.

To build a site you need content and the place where it will be located.

Content of a site can be different – text, pictures, videos, music files etc.


There are two main ways of site building: traditional (hosting+CMS) and with the help of website builders.

How to build a website in the traditional way


1. Get a web hosting (Hostgator).

2. Get a CMS (Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress etc.).

3. Get a domain name.

4. Install and setup them all.


Fancy words but they mean easy things

Web hosting is the place where your website will be located physically. There is Paid and Free Hosting.

CMS is scripts (files). With CMS you can add, edit and delete web pages on your website.

Domain Name is the address which you type when you want to open a website. There are paid and free Domain Names.
